Information You Share With Us

Basic Account Information: We require certain basic information to provide our services to you. This includes the following:

  • Username (for example, “michael123”)
  • Email Address (verified, must be real)
  • Avatar Image (optional)
  • Backup Password (to manage your acccount and devices)

Information We Share With Relying Parties

Relying Parties are websites that provide an option to login with QRID app. For example, www.BitExperts.com is a Relying Party website that allows their users to login by using QRID app.
When you use QRID app to login to a Relying Party website , the following information is being passed by QRID to the Relying Party:

  • unique user identifier internally assigned by QRID
  • QRID profile avatar image
  • Email Address from your QRID profile

Purpose of sharing the information with Relying Parties

QRID mission is to liberate Internet users from the hassle of using passwords.

We have built a secure login technology that is using QR codes and cryptography instead of passwords. We have also built an Identity Provider Service to let other Internet websites (Relying Parties) use our login technology.

In order for the login process to work, at least some of your information needs to be passed to the Relying Party website you are trying to login to. Here is why:

  • unique user identifier internally assigned by QRID
    • this allows a Relying Party to determine if you are a new user to them or if you are returning user who already has an account with their website
  • QRID username
    • This allows Relying Party to display links to your QRID profile page
  • QRID profile avatar image
    • If you have created an avatar image, it will be passed to a Relying Party website.
  • Email Address from your QRID profile
    • Most of the websites these days would need an Email Address to create a new user account. So if you are a new user to them, already having your Email Address allows for an “Instant Account Creation”. For example, if you are using QRID app to login to www.BitExperts.com for the first time, it would then instantly create a new account for you, and so they say they have “Login without Registration” process.

We believe that using QRID results in a dramatic improvement in user experience for any website that requires login or registration.
